Leland, NC

Leland is the most populous town in Brunswick County, NC, and one of the fastest growing towns in the state. In its early days, Leland’s proximity to the Brunswick and Cape Fear rivers allowed it to serve as an early hub for transportation. Today, the town offers residents the modern expectations and amenities of larger metropolitan areas while maintaining the quaint charm and Southern hospitality on which it was founded.

A variety of outdoor activities characterize life in Leland, NC, but the top activity may surprise you. Leland boasts one of the largest pickleball communities in the Southeast. Among the many pickleball facilities in the area is the public House of Pickleball. The HOP is one of the only world-class indoor pickleball facilities in the state, with six indoor, multi-colored pickleball courts with sport rubber coating.

Of course, Leland, NC, is primarily a charming coastal getaway. Nearby, the 17,000-plus-acre Green Swamp Preserve features marked trails among 14 species of insectivorous plants, including Venus flytraps, and a variety of rare animals, such as the bright green and brown Hessel’s hairstreak butterfly. The town itself has three designated parks, and nearby Brunswick Nature Park offers an additional 900-plus acres for hiking and mountain biking.
